  1. Oh, Tulia, tall, with your wheat-colored hair and a leopard toga around your frame so fair. You’ve struck a blow to my heart, and I’ve fallen in despair. At Tempus pomeridianum, I walk to face death—a lion, a bear, and who knows what else? And all because I dared to seduce a noble-nosed priestess of Zeus. Colosseum fans throw cabbage that hits the bars of my gate, their faces reddened with passion and hate. A rusted gladius is all I’ve been given, a sign that my sin can’t be forgiven. By vespera I’ll be buried, judged by holy tradition.

    1. A veritable feast of allusions, cameos, and emotions. All stewing in a pedestaled melting pot that doesn't destroy each one's taste. Awesome sauce. :)
