Hello . . . this is Joe. Welcome to A Daily Drabble. Please add 100 words of prose or poetry as a comment on any date you want and in any order you want. Please reply on the drabbles you like. I'll moderate the comments at night, and they'll appear the next day. This is for everyone!
Oh, Tulia, tall, with your wheat-colored hair and a leopard toga around your frame so fair. You’ve struck a blow to my heart, and I’ve fallen in despair. At Tempus pomeridianum, I walk to face death—a lion, a bear, and who knows what else? And all because I dared to seduce a noble-nosed priestess of Zeus. Colosseum fans throw cabbage that hits the bars of my gate, their faces reddened with passion and hate. A rusted gladius is all I’ve been given, a sign that my sin can’t be forgiven. By vespera I’ll be buried, judged by holy tradition.
ReplyDeleteA veritable feast of allusions, cameos, and emotions. All stewing in a pedestaled melting pot that doesn't destroy each one's taste. Awesome sauce. :)
