    1. I’m not at loss for words, but I am at a lost for those that might get at this image in a way that interests human animals. Lauryn Hill tells me I just lost one, but I know many more crashed out of my ken. I bet they’ll go to Kentucky Fried Chicken and order softserve. I live in Louisville; but I suspect they’ll take their licks in Paducah. Frankly, we stand a better chance of meeting in Padua. And while we’re in the Veneto—have you heard about the dolphin cruising Venetian canals? I learned this from Amitav Ghosh.

    2. You've reminded me that I need to read The Ibis trilogy!

  2. On my daily romp, I discover an odd structure that likely houses insectoid residents. A home or factory, I cannot tell. Built on a slope, four evenly spaced arches reveal a basement level. The wall above is speckled with white and ruddy bricks and looks like red static, and four windows line the second story, each reflecting the nickel-blue sky through a dendritic veil. I wonder if the order of Blattodea explores the detritus-covered floors, frolics in the closets, or gives birth in the interstitial spaces. Do they scale the flue at night to hold tarsi and watch the stars?

    1. Heck yes to this: "ruddy bricks...like red static"; I dig this simile. Too, I love that you include the word "dendritic"; and that it should be a modifier for a "veil" strikes me as interesting. Finally, I like that you include the word "flue," and oh yah it's fun to have the trendy academic word "interstitial" in the mix.
